Associate Veterinarian (DMV) – San Bruno, CA

Summary of Job Purpose and Function:

Under policy direction of the Medical Director with support of the Leadership Team, the Associate Veterinarian provides professional diagnostics and treatment of companion animals. The scope of the treatments includes medical, nutritional, dental, and surgical care, as well as wellness, preventative, and emergency care.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Always care and embrace that the patient’s well being is the first priority.
  • Continually improve the quality of patient care through studying veterinary journals and texts and by attending seminars. We have established a minimum 18 hour per year requirement for continuing education for each veterinarian.
  • Perform examinations, diagnostic, medical, surgical and dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort. This includes care for both well pets and sick pets.
  • Develop rapport with clients through compassionate communication.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records, including: Completely “SOAP” the patients medical records, S = Subjective analysis of problem (history), O = Objective analysis of problem (physical exam), A = Assessment of problem (diagnosis or rule outs, with expected prognosis), P = Plan for dealing with problem (treatment). Ensure all necessary logs are kept up to date through established protocols and guidelines, including but not limited to: surgical logs, narcotics logs, radiology logs, laboratory logs, and any other hospital logs.

Qualifications:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • An active and valid license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of California.
  • An active and valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) license to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Active and current accreditation with the USDA’s NVAP (National Veterinary Accreditation Program) to issue certificates of veterinary inspection for patients that will be traveling across state or national borders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $160,000.00 per year
